Why would a rich person want to live in an egalitarian society?
- Save money on police and other measures to keep the poor in their
downtrodden place.
- More egalitarian societies seem to be more economically productive
and have a faster rate of technological development, probably because of
greater educational and career opportunities for a large segment of the
population.
- Egalitarian countries probably generate more of certain types of cultural
product, such as books and movies. Less egalitarian countries may put
more effort into other art forms, such as big statues and grandiose tombs.
Depending on taste one might prefer one or the other.
